OF ALL the places in Tasmania that could have been chosen, Joe Mungovan decided to play at Marakoopa Café, in Mayberry, as part of his national tour on 19th June.

Joe Mungovan is one of Australia’s top singers and songwriters, and his national tour comes after the release of his first single My Jumper from his second EP Way Down South last September.

My Jumper is one of Joe’s many songs that have taken the Australian music industry by storm.

It immediately score airplay on Triple J and has been added to rotation on Triple J Unearthed.

His music has received really great reviews, too. Timber and Steel, Australia’s online home of acoustic, folk and Indie music and more, stated, “The single is the perfect slice of Mungovan’s brand of folk, Indie and pop.”

And Joe started playing music young, initially on a drum kit at the age of nine.

That changed when he crashed his skateboard at age thirteen, leaving him in a wheelchair for four months, and hence unable to play the drums.

Since teaching himself the guitar back then, Joe has made his way onto some of the most prestigious stages in Australia.

And he has shared them with some of Australia’s most well-known acts including The Preatures, Ian Moss of Cold Chisel, Hunters and Collectors’ Mark Seymour, Glenn Shorrock from Little River Band, and Owen Rabbit.

He has also done pre-show entertainment at Sydney Entertainment Centre for Neil Young, Gotye, Paul Simon and Sting.
