FOR TWO local men, their Targa experience took an exciting turn when they came away with a class award in the GT4 category.

Driver, Trevor Macleod, from Travellers Rest, and navigator, Scott Hunter, from West Launceston, competed in their second Targa Tasmania together in the Tas Stockfeed 2010 Subaru WRX STi Spec C and were awarded the Class B trophy.

The GT4 category is for 4WD vehicles manufactured between 1st January 2008 up to the first day of its competition.

It put the local team up against Tony Quinn in his Lamborghini Huracán, Nissan R35 Skylines and other Subaru WRX’s in the various classes of the GT4 category, each determined by the engine size.

Mr Hunter said that it was a long week and one that had started way before the race.

“In the weeks building up to the race we spent a lot of time on the road to go over the stages, checking our pace notes to make sure all is okay and that we know what we are doing,” he explained.

“The two of us had to make sure everything goes to plan, that we go the right way and meet our crew at the designated areas we had planned for.”

Both men are grateful for the support from their families and, of course, Bucky Motorsport for making sure their Subaru was ready for the race; making it the whole way through.
