CARRICK SPEEDWAY was action packed for the season opening race meeting held in October.

Spectators were treated to the biggest ever list of events at the speedway where veterans came to keep their titles while new drivers wanted to show what they were capable of.

Speedway Manager, Andrea Cox, commented that the crowd were impressed to get such a huge night of action that flowed with very little wait time. Indeed, the crowd got their money’s worth.

“Many came along to see the Late Models have their first official demonstration in Tasmania. Late Models are new to Tassie and Carrick Speedway is getting behind them to help them get off the ground,” explained Mrs Cox.

“In only 6 months car numbers have grown to about ten, so it won’t be long before we see them on the program as a regular racing division.

“Overall, it was a great night’s racing that was full to the brim.

“This season there are seven state titles including two inaugural state titles, one Australian Title, eight memorial races and the second annual CJD Equipment Truck Show.

“It is going to be another huge season at Cranes Combined Carrick Speedway.” said Mrs Cox.

Funding from the Meander Valley Council community grants project has helped improve the family-friendly track with increased safety lighting for spectators and improved water supplies to all areas of the facility.
