Medieval musicians

February 2017

TWO FANTASTIC shows will be coming to the Deloraine Little Theatre as part of Ten Days on the Island 2017.

Enter an extraordinary, rarely heard musical world where passion and talent soar as part of the Ten Days of the Island Festival. Sequenza is an ensemble of four musicians united by a mutual passion for ancient instruments, historically informed performance and innovation within their art form.

The haunting voice of world renowned soprano Helen Thomson forms a unique timbre with Brett Rutherford on viola da gamba, David Malone on lute and the percussion of Matthew Goddard. They present an eye-opening program that blends ancient music from the troubadour tradition with new works especially written by accomplished Tasmanian composers for the ensemble’s unique chemistry. Sequenza perform on Sunday 26th March at 2.30pm.

German storyteller Volker Gerling has walked 3,500km over 13 years and had thousands of human encounters in search of lost moments.

In his show, Portraits in Motion, Volker tells the stories of the ordinary and extraordinary people he has met in his travels through the use of flip books projected on a large screen coupled with narration. This unique, heart-felt show is full of laughter and moving moments as we get to know Volker and some of the many people he has met throughout his travels in the gentle meeting of cinema, photography and story.

Volker performs at the Little Theatre on Wednesday 22nd March at 7.30pm
