MORE THAN 800 people attended the 128th Chudleigh Show on the four-seasons-in-one-day, day.

The Deloraine Big Band entertained the crowd throughout the day, with vintage cars, tractors, old and new machinery, and whip cracking displayed.

Mark Wadley won first prize with his pen of three dairy heifers on farm, with John Evans clinching the pen of three at the show, and Dean and Kate Marshman for the best heifer in milk.

Kelvin and Katy Haberle from Caveside won the Senior Champion and Supreme Cow Exhibits with their cow “Gordella EVB Journalist”, and Luke Bloomfield the Allbreeds Junior Champion.

The Supreme Beef Exhibit was won by D. and K. Heazlewood with their Angus bull.

L. Wise, Caitlyn Loane and Thomas Febey took the first prizes in their classes of Beef Junior Handling, with Adarie Bloomfield, Meagan Hamilton, Harry Hamilton and Jaxon Gilliam winning their classes in the Dairy Junior Handlers. Jaxon Gillam was Overall Champion.

The Yolla School won the most successful Sheep Exhibitor.

International and mainland judges were impressed with the high standard of competition in the equestrian events, awarding Jess Campbell in the Hunter and Open Supreme Champion Classes. The 1.10m Chudleigh Show Championship jump went to Mikeayla van Rooye.

A new event organised by the Hagley Rural Youth Club was a dog jump, with Clinton Cameron’s canine Badger winning the high jump and Ellie Howe’s Daisy the low event.

Judges commented on the high standard of competition in the Home Industries, with Carol von Pirch acknowledged as the most successful exhibitor in the miscellaneous, photography, vegetables and floral art sections, and Caitlyn How for outstanding cooking exhibit, Geoff Capper for most outstanding photography exhibit, Doris Philpott for outstanding beading exhibit and as most successful in the knitting and crochet sections.

Sophie Folder also displayed a great selection of vegetables, with Wendy McCarthy recognised as most successful in Dairy and Culinary, Maureen Cameron clinching the cut flower exhibit with an outstanding gladioli exhibit, and Jarrod Atkins emerged champion in the junior flower and junior handcraft sections.
