Warm your heart and the boards of the Little Theatre

FOR ALMOST the 20th time, the Deloraine Dramatic Society (DDS) will again host its Originals Only Night [OON] at the Meander Valley Performing Arts Centre’s Little Theatre on Saturday 22nd April.

The event gives all sorts of original artists and artisans from across Tasmania, many having a musical persuasion, each 10 minutes to share their own new and original works to a growing and appreciative audience.

“Many musicians and performers return for the vibes and the chance to catch up with other artists. And there are always those who show up for the first time, surprising and delighting all on the night,” says Suz Haywood, DDS committee member and coordinator of its 2017 OON.

So you might see a new musician experience his first live audience under the watchful support of their music teacher; an old hand sharing a still raw and evolving song freshly crafted that afternoon; dancers grooving to the music; a student metal band honing songs played at the state-wide Battle of the Bands comp; and poets reaching into their thoughts and hearts.

“Our Originals Only Night has a spontaneous and eclectic nature to it. You are left moved by how creatively clever and generous people can be,” Suz adds.
