THE FOOTBALL glass ceiling in Deloraine is showing some serious cracks with Taneil Bloomfield offering training sessions for junior girls.

Taniel has been coaching junior boys football for the last four years and decided to offer these sessions as a starting point for girls footy, with a view to fielding a team in a regional league next year.

“The girls coming along are super duper keen. It’s just a matter of getting some more involved,” explains Taneil.

Also coaching basketball and netball Taneil says ”the skills required for footy are hardest to learn but also the most rewarding once learnt,” adding “it really is a fantastic sport, with 18 people on the field there is a lot of camraderie amongst players and team spirit.”

“It’s different coaching girls” shares Taneil. “Boys grit their teeth and want to be heroes whereas the girls want to play together and have fun.”

Girls aged 9-12 are welcome to attend the sessions at the Deloraine Football ground on Thursdays from 3.30 - 4.30 pm. Please wear footy gear and bring a water bottle.

For more information, call Taneil on 0439 809 996.
