THERE WAS singing, shadow puppets and a very determined cow at this year’s National Simultaneous Story Time at Deloraine House in the last week of May.

Children, parents and carers all enjoyed singing songs and listening to Kristy Russell as she read ‘The Cow tripped over the Moon’, a children’s book by Tony Wilson and Laura Wood.

National Simultaneous Story Time is an annual event held around Australia to encourage children to read and enjoy books. It was huge turnout to the Deloraine event and all the children attending received a picture book to take home and enjoy.

After Kristy sang and read to the children they then learnt to make and play with shadow puppets in a mini-workshop run by local puppeteer and artist Sean Manners.

Emily Dowling attended with her son and commented “I think for kids at William’s age he’s particularly into his stories at the moment and having the added bonus of the shadow puppets was really special, he just loved it. It was a really well organised and lovely event to go to and Kristy did such a great job of storytelling that it was a great morning for both kids and parents.”

After all the fun, the morning finished off with a lovely morning tea. If you would like to know more about similar activities held at Deloraine House pop in to the House, or visit their website calendar: www.delorainehouse. com.au/events or like them on Facebook.
