Deloraine Devils dash to finals

July 2017 | David Claridge

NETBALL IS IN FULL swing in Deloraine with the Deloraine Devils season progressing well with most teams preparing to play finals.

Their Div 3 and 5 teams in the Northern Tasmania Netball Association competition are both in the top four and are looking forward to playing finals in September.

Club President, Taneil Bloomfield, shared that DDNC has exciting times to come having almost 40 members already in 2017, welcoming new and returning players to the Club which take pride in providing Netball opportunities for all ages.

“We have entered three Junior teams in the NTNA Junior roster held on Saturday’s at the Northern Tasmania Netball Centre, which is a first for the club and coming in line with our strategic plan of providing a pathway from juniors through to seniors to ensure the successful future of the club,” she said.

“The teams include 10’s & under (NetSetGo), 11’s and 16’s & under. All teams are playing some fantastic Netball and are enjoying the friendships and challenge of playing regularly against other clubs.

The club has also undertaken Netball sessions at the Deloraine Primary School through term one which has been a great way to introduce Netball to girls and boys of all ages.

“In late September DDNC will be running NetSetGo for children aged between 5-10yrs for its 6th consecutive year,” Taneil said.

“This program has been very successful with members around 40 in 2016 we were able to split into two age groups so the children were able to get more value from the session. This is an essential feeder into our Junior NTNA teams.”
