FEDERAL FUNDING has been approved for the Highland Lakes Road Upgrade, allowing crucial sealing, realignment and widening works to start between Miena and Haulage Hill, north of Breona.

The Australian Government has committed $5 million and the Tasmanian Government over $3.9 million to the project as it benefits, along with tourism, key regional industries including the forestry, agricultural and hydroelectric sectors.

Fixing the unsealed length and Haulage Hill’s three curves will improve safety, cut down driving time and reduce wear and tear on vehicles.
