Hadspen cricket

September 2017 | David Claridge

ANOTHER BIG season looms for the Hadspen Cricket Club as they begin training, and welcome in new members.

Currently doing pre-season training out at Windsor Park, Riverside on Thursday nights they hope to have teams ready to add to their trophy cabinet in the new season.

Club president Corey Martin said there is a lot happening on the field and is encouraging anyone interested to come and have a look and possibly sign up.

“We are offering a range of programs for all ages and abilities this year,” he said.

“We will also field a women’s side in the TCL T20 Boom competition for the first time.

“As well as an under-17 girl’s development team to go with our under-15, under-13 boys and girls teams, the Milo T20 Cricket program for 5-12 for boys and girls, and four senior sides in the Tasmanian Cricket League - Premier League, A-Reserve, B and C grades.

The Chieftains will be looking to redeem themselves after grand final losses last year in both Premier League and C-grade.

“You can always strive for improvement but in sport anything can happen. You always try and improve every year but obviously the other teams are trying to do the same,” Martin said.

“Anyone can still join. The senior sides play on Saturday’s and Sunday’s, the women’s programs play on Saturday and during the week.”

Hadspen are looking for more members from everywhere in the Meander Valley. Interested people can contact Martin on 0437 914 408.
