STAGG COURT, Deloraine was the centre of national media attention in late August when an 11-year-old girl was shot in the head.

Phoenix Newitt who had bullet fragments lodged in her head and heart was flown to Melbourne for surgery after being treated at the Deloraine Hospital.

The incident sent shockwaves through this normally peaceful community, many people were visibly distressed by the news.

At the time of going to press a 25-year-old man, Nathan Campbell, who lives in Stagg Court, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm and recklessly discharging a firearm.
