Sports lighting upgrade

November 2017

UPGRADED LIGHTING at Prospect Vale Park will add to the usability of the ground for football and soccer, according to Cllr Richardson.

Meander Valley Council approved a budget reallocation of $152,100 on condition it receives funding from two grants to the Prospect Vale Junior AFL Club from the State Government and the AFL Facilities Development Reserve.

Council testing has revealed that current lighting is at less than 50 lux level rather than the AFL–recommended 150 lux minimum.

Cllr Bob Richardson said in excess of 1000 touch footballers use the ground.

Council staff commented that improved lighting to 200 lux would future-proof the facility as well as enabling the possibility for clubs to host night games.
