Lions donate a Linet

December 2017

A LARGE part of Deloraine Lions Club activities revolve around raising funds to assist the community in the Meander Valley.

Lions members can be seen outside the Supermarket or at Saturday markets selling raffle tickets or in the Lions Club food van at the Craft Fair, Tasmanian Truck Show or at farm clearance sales and various other events throughout the year.

Club fundraising assists individual community members with mobility issues or emergencies, organisationssuch as Giant Steps, BlazeAid with flood relief, and various other non-profit organisations in and around Deloraine.

The Lions Club has recently assisted Deloraine Hospital to fund the purchase of an electronic, fully adjustable hospital bed.

The Linet bed can be raised and lowered to allow nurses to tend to bedridden patients at a comfortable height.

Height adjustment also allows patients to get in and out of the bed without the risk of falling and breaking a hip or leg.

The bed also raises in the centre to provide a much more comfortable sleeping position for patients with breathing difficulties.

Club members were thrilled to be able to assist and recently presented the new bed to Lester Jones, Director of Nursing at the Deloraine Hospital.

Eric Richardson, club president, explained that “this is the perfect investment for the Deloraine Lions Club, as it fits the club’s mandate of serving the local Meander Valley community and will benefit hundreds of community members for years to come.”
