Prepare for your passing

SEPTEMBER 2018

LIFE IS Short: Be Prepared Seminars are coming to a place near you!

Launceston Community Legal Centre (LCLC) has partnered with Palliative Care Tasmania to bring local communities an informative day of talks on everything you need to know to make sure you don’t have to worry as you age.

These areas of discussion are often avoided until it is too late, causing unnecessary distress for the person approaching death and amongst family.

It is hoped that by running these information days people will have the information they need so they can make the arrangements they want, before the need arises, and get on with living!

The next of these information days will be at Deloraine House, 112 Emu Bay Rd, Deloraine, on Tuesday 25th September 2018 running from 10.00am.

There will be a series of talks from interesting speakers on a range of topics. This is a full day program running to about 3.15pm.

Sarah House, solicitor from LCLC will give information on Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney, Enduring Guardianship, Funerals and other issues that we all need information on when someone dies.

Sharon King from Palliative Care Tasmania will inform and delight, talking about what palliative care is, what Advanced Care Directives are and how to make the best possible preparations for ourselves should the need arise.

We are particularly lucky to have secured David Murray the Financial Information Service Officer from Department of Human Services (Centrelink), who will talk about financial considerations when looking at retirement and their implications for Centrelink, tax and so on.

All members of the community are invited to attend all or part of the day, the investment of your time will be well rewarded, and there is no charge for attending.

Previous attendees said: “Do this Statewide including regional and suburban areas”, “great idea having all of these presenters together to give an overall understanding of important matters to plan for in the future”, “Information at the right time”.

Morning and afternoon tea will be provided. Please ring Moya at LCLC on 6334 1577 to book your place.
