THE PROSPECT Hawks are building quite a reputation in local football.

A record six players were selected to represent Tasmania in the U15s and U16s National Championships. U15s Brayden Fellows, Isaac Hyatt, Khai Lunson and Conall McCormack join U16s Tony Aganas and Blade Sulzberger in representing not only the Hawks but Tasmanian junior football.

Club President, Shaun Crawford, shared how excited the club is with their reps.

‘Six is a very good number given that there are 50 boys selected across Tasmania,’ he said.

‘This is a record for the club in a single year and we are very proud of all the boys.

‘We have an ongoing focus on developing players to become talented footballers and play at the highest level that they can.’

The U16s towered over Northern Territory in their first match with a 45-point victory in New South Wales (16.13.109–8.8.56).

In game two they were well and truly in the fight going into the fourth quarter against Queensland but fell short over there. Tony Aganas performed well with 30 hit outs.

Game three was bittersweet as the U16s were held goalless until the third quarter. They ended going down by 45 points.

With repairs due to take place at UTAS Stadium, Prospect Park will play a key role in hosting the U15s National Championship with three game days on 31 July, 1 August and 3 August.

The Hawks have had many reps in the past. In 2011 the Kolodjashnij brothers, Kade and Jake, represented Tasmania in the U16 Championships and they subsequently went on be drafted to the AFL.
