THE DELORAINE Bowls Club held their Opening Day for season 2019–20 on Sunday 15 September.

The day was sponsored in memory of Patsy Blair by her husband Daryl Blair and her family. The Blair family provided the BBQ lunch and drinks for everyone in attendance.

Patsy Blair had been a member of the Deloraine Bowls Club for twenty-five years and during that time had held the positions of President and Treasurer of the ladies when they were still called associate members. A long-time committee member and catering manager, Patsy was also an A Grade Pennant player and a Level 2 Umpire, officiating at both club level and Tasmanian Bowls North competitions.

President, Keith Davis thanked both the Blair family for their sponsorship and the bowls club members for attending the opening day.

Special guest, Mr Mark Shelton MP, wished the club success in the coming season and acknowledged that Patsy Blair had in the past given her time as a volunteer for many events in Deloraine as well as being a dedicated member of the Deloraine Bowls Club.

The first jack and bowl for season 2019–20 were delivered by the patronesses, Win Gleeson and Berri Carter, followed by lunch and a few games of social bowls.

For anyone thinking of becoming a member or social member of the Deloraine Bowls Club, more information is available from the Secretary, John Samphier, on 0409 999 504 (AH) or by email at Secretary.dbcinc@gmail.com. New bowlers are most welcome, and coaching is also available.
