HAGLEY FARM School has won an award for including biosecurity in its curriculum.

Guy Barnett, Minister for Primary Industries and Water said the national award in the Education category of the 2020 Australian Biosecurity Awards was a fantastic achievement for the staff and students at Hagley Farm School & Visitor Centre.

‘This is recognition of their commitment to making practical biosecurity education a key component of the agri- cultural curriculum at Hagley, and for the thousands of other Tasmanian students who visit the Field Study Centre each year’, Minister Barnett said.

‘Good biosecurity is a shared responsibility and this award highlights the important collaborative work at the school and the broader Revitalising School Farms network, with ongoing support of staff from Biosecurity Tasmania.

‘Biosecurity and the education of our next generation of agricultural professionals is essential to Tasmania’s agriculture productivity, continued market access, our reputation for high quality primary products and the health of our naural environment.’

Minister for Education and Training Jeremy Rockliff said it was more evidence of the success of Tasmania’s school farms.
