Two new Tasmanian gins are the stars of Westbury’s new Western Tiers Distillery which opened in late March.

Dry’s Bluff and Nells Bluff are already on sale, with a vodka and triple-distilled poitín (Irish moonshine) available in a few weeks.

The distillery has generated eight local jobs and owners Tim Freeman and Mark Kolodziej believe it will increase tourism to Westbury and the Meander Valley.

Mark, owner of local company Kolmark where the distillery’s copper pot stills were made from European copper, said distiller John Scott is mentored by master distiller Damian Mackey.

Mr Mackey is already famous for creating distinctively rich, Tasmanian triple-distilled spirits.

‘Western Tiers has built on this tradition with two key ingredients, Tasmanian botanicals and pristine water from the Western Tiers’, he said.
