TRUSTED SMILES dental practice has opened its doors in the Meander Valley. Located behind the pharmacy in Meander Valley Road, Westbury, a grand opening was held on 28 February, .

Founding dentist Dr Brandon Krapf said the name Trusted Smiles was no accident.

‘A lot of people going to a dentist are nervous or avoid going, and my philosophy across this whole practice is to build a sense of trust from when the person phones up and when they walk in the door.

‘I am lucky and pleased to have a very talented team. Our nurses are trained in patient comfort, and I have gentle air abrasion equipment, painless anaesthetic, and pre-medication practices to make a visit as pain-free and comfortable as possible.

‘It is about trust and building a longer term relationship with each person. I spend more time with each person, and I take the time to explain my rationale for what needs doing or what doesn’t need doing.’

Brandon said he has invested in over a million dollars in state of the art equipment such as 2D and 3D full mouth X-Ray machines so he can do imaging and planning on the same day.

The practice can also do side and front shots for kids who may need braces. Each surgery room is named after one each of his three young daughters.

Brandon has spent two years studying courses focusing on braces alone and said he believes in ongoing learning and keeping his knowledge up to date.

Brandon used to work for a dental practice in Deloraine, but missed out on an opportunity to buy that practice when it went up for sale.

‘I was working half a week in Melbourne and half a week in Deloraine’, he said.

He then worked in a dental practice in Launceston, setting himself a two year mission to establish his own practice.

‘Trusted Smiles can also cater for people who need more extensive work, including general anaesthetic, which is done in conjunction with Calvary St Luke’s and St Vincent’s hospitals in Launceston’, he said.

For those on a budget, Brandon can prioritise dental work to be done over time. ‘My aim is to not have people from Meander Valley travelling into Launceston and back to see a dentist.’
