THE HADSPEN Cricket Club has had another successful season in the Tasmanian Cricket League.

After winning the T20 Northern grand final against Westbury and making the state Community Cup final, the Premier League and A Grade sides each secured their third consecutive grand final wins against Trevallyn and the Diggers respectively.

Chieftains’ President Corey Martin described the Hadspen matches.

‘In T20 we advanced through to the state finals after beating Longford in November then went on to defeat Westbury, getting the silverware 5/260 to 7/150,’ he said.

‘We progressed into the state finals, besting Blackmans Bay through a good performance but went down to Ulverstone in the state grand final by four wickets. It was a fairly big achievement for the club since we have never won a T20 grand final before. To go on to make the state final was a big achievement for the club, very impressive.

‘Our grand finals in A Grade and Premier League were two very tight matches, good contests between bat and ball.’

The Premier League team defeated Trevallyn 10/143 to 10/92. The A Grade team’s final score against the Diggers was 10/134 to 10/111.

‘Yes, the club is going through a period of success at the moment, but it is harder to stay on top than it is to get there these days,’ said Martin.
