AN EGGSELLENT time was had in March at the Blackstone Heights Easter sausage sizzle and egg hunt.

Dozens of children of all ages swarmed the fields at Blackstone Park to collect chocolate eggs.

A good weather forecast made for a better day than the Christmas event, children were able to make use of the play equipment and enjoy the warm afternoon.

Lynn Westlake, a member of the Blackstone Heights Community Group, was very impressed with the turnout.

‘Everyone has come out. We’ve had a good crowd. Everyone had bags of chocolate eggs and a sausage.

‘It’s about bringing people together. Not just living in an area but joining in things.

‘That’s what we are all about. Getting out of your house and getting the community together.

‘Not just going to work.

‘We have an awesome park, we are really lucky with what the council has done and we are able to use it.’

The community group, which consists of 12 members, produces a community newsletter every three months.

Their next big event will be a market and car boot sale on 4 December.

Still in the planning, the group is anticipating that there will be a jumping castle, zorb balls and many other exciting activities.
