Dramatic Society’s Festival of One Act Plays

The 42nd Festival of One Act Plays was held at the Meander Valley Performing Arts Centre (aka Little Theatre) on the weekend of 21-22 October.

This year the Festival featured 12 one act plays, presented by mainly by Deloraine and Hobart-based companies, over three sessions. 

There were two Deloraine Dramatic Society performances. The first was a one act play Sherlock Holmes and the Italian Job, written performed and directed by George Franklin. 

The second featured Nell Gard, Pelham Cox and Charlotte Wickham of the Deloraine Dramatic Society Youth Group who performed All we Need, written by Greg Burgess, and Directed by DDS President, Barry Higgins.

Festival Adjudicator Andrew Casey presented the awards for Best male performance, Peter Miller; Best female performance, Meredith McQueen and Most Promising performer, Charlotte Wickham. 

Ian McQueen, of Square Pegs Co, won the Best Script award for For the love of God.

Family won the award for Best Play, written and directed by Matt Dobson, Lost Theatre Co. Hobart.
