New faces on Meander Valley Council

There are five new faces on Meander Valley Council: Lochie Daunauf, Ben Dudman, Anne-Marie Loader, Barry Lee and Kevin House from Prospect Vale.

Mayor Johnson said that he was “humbled and honoured to be re-elected for a second term and wanted to thank all those candidates that ran and congratulations to those that were elected.”

He hoped that the next four years are not like the last and looked forward to major developments coming online.

He pointed to the Bracknell Hall, Deloraine Squash Courts, Prospect Vale Park and the potential for investing $3.35M which was recently secured from the Commonwealth for the Deloraine Racecourse Precinct.

He particularly wanted to acknowledge the work that all our staff did in the last few years.

The Tasmanian Electoral Commission confirmed the ballots for elections to the Meander Valley Council. Of the 15,967 eligible electors, 86.3% of residents returned ballots.

Mayor Wayne Johnston was returned with 23% of the councillor vote and an absolute majority of the mayoral vote.

Councillors Lochie Dornauf and Stephanie Cameron each received around 12% of the councillor vote.

The first meeting of the new council is scheduled to be held on Tuesday 8 November, 2022 at the Council Chambers in Westbury.
