Want help reading to your kids?

Parents and carers are a child’s first teachers and your local library loves to support with this.

Libraries offer a range of programs especially for pre-schoolers: Story Time, Rock and Rhyme and Baby Play.

Story Time is on regularly at Deloraine and Westbury Libraries. There is also an amazing range of children’s books.

Did you know there are book packs especially for pre-schoolers? The library doesn’t mind if your child has a chew or a chomp on them.

That’s all part of learning.

But what if parents and carer’s have difficulty reading to children? The Library has free and confidential support for anyone who wants to improve their reading, writing and maths.

Libraries Tasmania is part of 26TEN “…a network of organisations and individuals working together to improve adult literacy and numeracy in Tasmania. Better literacy and numeracy means a better Tasmania for all.”

Libraries love working with other organisations to help make reading and writing easier for everyone.

Did you know that speech, reading and writing are linked? Westbury Library is hosting a Speechies Talk on Wednesday 23 November, 2pm to 3pm.

Come along and hear from a Speech Pathologist from Speech Pathology Australia, find out about this amazing connection.

All parents, grandparents, carers and people who work with children are very welcome to attend this free talk.
