Polyfoam has commenced construction of a $10m state-of-the-art recycling facility at Westbury’s Valley Central industrial precinct.

The company manufactures expanded polystyrene boxes which are used to insulate and transport food and medicines, as well as building materials.

Polyfoam’s new Westbury facility will be world leading, incorporating both re-manufacturing and recycling capabilities to ensure that a significant amount of waste polystyrene product can be diverted from landfill and re-manufactured for use in the building industry.

Polyfoam hopes to fully meet the needs of their Tasmanian market without importing any product from interstate.

“Valley Central continues to go from strength to strength and we are proud that this long-standing Tasmanian company has chosen Meander Valley to grow, develop and continue their journey,” said Mayor Johnston.

He also extended a warm welcome to the 50 member construction crew and 18 new staff who will be working in Westbury.

Polyfoam’s new facility is expected to be up and running by mid-2023.
