Everything is set for 2000 people to have the time of their lives at the Day at the Creek music event on February 26.

The annual event brings around $700,000 into the western end of the Meander Valley and has never been cancelled because of COVID.

But this year in a nod to COVID rules, Mole Creek Pub owner Doug Westbrook said that patrons will need to wear masks and show their full vaccination certificate at the gate.

“The big drawcard this year is BABBA, the ABBA tribute band – they were magic at the 2014 and 2015 events,” he said.

“The 11-strong Blues Brothers Revival from Hobart stole the show last year and they’ll be bringing the Big Pontiac again this year. They’re all about having fun.”

Rewind 80s will also perform, along with Geelong’s Adam Page, local Dave Hawkins and Tristan Webb & Friends.

On the day, gates open at 11am and the music starts at noon.

Patrons are instructed to bring their groovin’ shoes and leave their pets and stresses at home. Camping is available for $30 a night for unpowered sites.

Doug Westbrook said that since Rotary Tasmania and in particular John Dare from Deloraine Rotary had been involved in A Day at the Creek for the past four years, the event had been able to grow to more than 2000 people. This year is capped at 2000.

“This year Workplace Safety and the Health Department have been very helpful in guiding us through the COVID requirements.

“We’ll also have food vans from Deloraine Lions; we try hard to involve local people on the event.”
