Vehicles surveying Meander Valley roads

Since January 31, you may have spotted some strange looking vans, with cameras mounted on top, driving around the region.

Don’t be alarmed! These kitted-out vehicles are utilised to assess the condition of the road and identify areas that need improvement.

Vans used in the program are clearly marked and carry high visibility signage and lighting.

The footage will help Meander Valley Council gain insight into the current condition of our roads and from this, help prepare effective maintenance and renewal programs to manage them.

The cameras focus solely on the roads, kerbs and footpaths.

The footage is input into a computer modelling program to evaluate the priorities for maintenance.

Pedestrians, vehicles and homes/structures are not part of the survey.
