Free circus and fire workshops

Learn how to make art with fire at Arts Deloraine’s free workshops ahead of WinterFire 2022.

ARTS Deloraine is encouraging younger members of the community to add more colour and movement to the WinterFire bonfire procession by offering some free afternoon workshops throughout early winter.

Arts Deloraine has been fortunate to engage the talented duo, Tom and Dana from Fyrebird Flow Collective to offer these events.

The Fyrebird Flow Collective is a Tasmanian performance troupe specialising in Fire & Light performance that has performed at Dark Mofo, Houn Valley Midwinter Festival, Launceston Beerfest and The Taste of Tasmania.

Would you like to learn some acrobatic or juggling skills? Join Super Silly Us Circus to learn basic circus skills at the Deloraine Showgrounds.

These 1hr workshops, designed primarily for young people (but open to all ages), run from 4.00-5.00 pm every Monday afternoon from 30 May to 14 July, 2022.

Fire twirling always adds drama to a dark evening.

Tom Slater and Dana Jensen from Firebird Flow Collective will provide training on the organisation of materials and props and fire safety before training on the technical skills necessary to spin fire as a solo performer.

They will also introduce some basic choreography for group performances.

These 1hr workshops, designed for young people aged 13-25 years, run just after dark from 5.30-6.30 pm every Monday evening from 30 May to 14 July, 2022 at the Deloraine Showgrounds.

Places are limited for both courses due to safety requirements, so please book a place by emailling fae-dragonflames@outlook.com
