Preparations underway for Agfest 2022

Preparations for Agfest 2022 are well underway and the excitement is building with tickets on sale now!

Passionate and hardworking Rural Youth volunteers have been proudly organising Agfest in Tasmania for 39 years and this year are celebrating 40 years of Agfest.

Agfest 2022 will again offer a broad range of exhibitors and several new features.

The new features include an exciting and interactive program by the University of Tasmania and an expo of some of the best Tasmanian hospitality, food and beverages by the Tasmanian Hospitality Association.

All the usual features like the heritage agricultural machinery, sheep dog trials, livestock and the Agfest boat show will appear again.

The decision to postpone from May to August for the 2022 event has been vindicated with the State Government lifting density and crowd limits. This means everyone who wants to purchase a ticket this year will have access to one.

Agfest Chairman Caine Evans commented, “Our committee made the brave decision to move Agfest 2022 to August to keep the event successful under difficult circumstances.

“I am pleased to say that it has paid off. We now have a 2022 event with uncapped patron numbers and an opportunity to welcome everyone back to Agfest.

“The Agfest Committee, volunteers and Rural Youth staff are proud of the event we deliver year in, year out and this year is no exception. We thank the State Government for their continued support of Agfest,” he said.

Agfest and Rural Youth are committed through their Covid plan to provide a safe and compliant event to protect the safety, health and wellbeing of volunteers, exhibitors, patrons and the wider community.

Tickets are on sale now and they will remain on sale right up to and including the event days themselves.

For this year’s event tickets will only be available to purchase online with no gate sales available.

Tickets can only be purchased for each individual day and are not transferable. There are no multiday or family passes available for this year’s event.

Once again, Rural Youth has partnered with Telstra Shops around the state to assist people with the online ticketing process. People will be able to visit their local Telstra Shop and be assisted by the helpful and friendly Telstra staff with purchasing their Agfest tickets online.

Telstra spokesperson Sarah Ebbelaar, Regional Engagement Manager, said “For some people in our community, relying on day to day online activity can be daunting. At Telstra, we believe we can all play a part in helping improve digital skills of those around us.

“All 9 Telstra stores state-wide will have staff available and happy to assist people to purchase Agfest tickets online in store.”

Agfest 2022 in the Paddock runs for four days from Wednesday 24 August to Saturday 27 August. Gates open from 8am to 4pm each of the four days.

Agfest then moves online to the Cloud on Saturday 27 August to Friday 2 September.
