Carrick caring for Africa

Suzanne Godfrey is supporting a cause that struck a chord, and you can too.

Last year Suzanne Godfrey travelled to Tanzania in Sub Saharan Africa to work with the Care for Africa team for a month.

She was overwhelmed by the lack of resources for women and girls in the communities.

It was obvious to Suzanne that the girls and women long for a better life, but they need the opportunity for an education so they can be the agents of their own change.

Education is the only way forward for girls, and multifaceted support is required to support schools.

This includes installation of water-bores, sanitation blocks, hygiene facilities, breakfast programs, menstrual care and health care in their schools.

This will ensure the girls are able to attend school all year round and enable them to create the change that will lift themselves out of poverty.

For over a decade now, Care for Africa, directly supported by LGH staff, delivers programs in water, health, education and social enterprise to more than 32,000 people in six outlying rural communities living in extreme poverty.

Suzanne is holding an Afternoon Tea on Sunday 15th January at 15 Oaks Rd, Carrick from 2-5pm.

Entertainment is provided by the Launceston City Band, String Sisters and Taiko Oni Jimo. Tickets $30.

RSVP to reserve a place to 0403 271 241.
