Bigger and better garlic and tomato festival

The ninth annual Tasmanian Garlic and Tomato Festival will be held at Selbourne on Sunday 19th March 2023 from 9.30am to 4.00pm.

There are competitions for local growers to produce the best garlic, tomatoes and preserves. Tomato sauce, relish and chutney take a while to develop their flavour, so start cooking now!

Tino Carnevale will be delivering workshops and answering your tricky tomato and garlic questions.

This year’s Festival Chef, Thomas Pirker, Head Chef at Peppers Silo Hotel in Launceston is renowned for collaborating with farmers and artisans to source local ingredients to effect amazing culinary journeys. Two local musical acts Amy Pegg and Toast Garden will provide entertainment for the day.

In 2023 the festival will again be held at Selbourne, on the property of Tasmanian Natural Garlic & Tomatoes

Selecting a working farm as the festival venue enables patrons to experience rural life first-hand.

The festival began life in 2015 and continues to grow in size and popularity. Pre covid around 2,500 people converged on this site for the 2019 festival, with patrons coming from all over Tasmania and even from interstate.

Selbourne is home to a farm that produces possibly the most extensive range of heirloom tomatoes in one place, in the country, as well as a wide range of garlic varieties.
