Roos’ recovery on track

The Community Gala Day went ahead in fine weather, though a bit chilly at the start, with the new lights towering over the ground.

Deloraine teams were joined by those from Bridgenorth Football Club, George Town Football Club, Old Launcestonians Football Club and Scottsdale Football Club where nine matches (Men’s & Women’s footy) were played over the day.

The Gala was a great success thanks to the massive crowd of local supporters, as well as the Rural Alive & Well team on the bbq, coffee from the Deloraine Lions Club and facilities by Sunrise Trailers.

The Club recognises the ongoing support of Gala prize donors: Harcourts Meander Valley, Deloraine Hotel, David Eastley and the team at Huetts, Mumma Buzz Cafe ‘N’ Takeaway and Barry McDonald and Katie Smith who have generously donated on behalf of their families who both have a long history with the Deloraine Footy Club.

The Gala day was clearly a good omen for the NTFA premier division curtain raiser game at the Hawthorn Football Club vs North Melbourne FC game played on April 1 at UTAS Stadium.

The youngish Roos team outplayed Bridgenorth in a tightly contested match: Deloraine 58 defeated Bridgenorth 43.

Club President, Don Tracey, provided an update on recovery efforts.

The change rooms and main area are completed and the new light towers installed.

Once the kitchens are completed then new equipment can be installed, followed by the public facilities.

In the next week or so the club should be well and truly ready for the home game against George Town on 22 April.
