THE DELORAINE Bowls Club volunteers have been busy during the winter months preparing both the artificial and the grass green for the coming pennant season.

The Opening Day for the 2015/16 season is to be held on Sunday 13th September 2015 commencing at 1.00 pm.

Members attending are welcome to bring friends who may be interested in becoming full or social members.

Mrs Rita Eastley, Secretary of the club, said that it was with sadness that two of the club’s members have recently passed on.

Mrs Joycie Collins, who had been a member for over twenty-five years, was also a past president and committee member. She was an A grade pennant player and winner of the club open pairs as well.

Patroness and Life member, Beryl Bakes, was a club member for fifty-one years. During that time she was president, treasurer and committee member. As an A Grade player she had won both Association and State A Grade pennants.

The Deloraine Bowls Club will be holding its 70th birthday party in December this year and past members are being invited to join in the celebrations.

Please contact Rita Eastley on 6362 2086 for further information about the 70th birthday party or if you are interested in becoming a club member.
