JANUARY 2016

SUNDAY 21ST February 2016 is the don’t-miss date for the inaugural Deloraine Street Car Show!

On display in the town centre will be a wide variety of pre-1988 muscle cars, classic and custom cars and motorcycles.

Local business owners have organised this exciting event for Tassie, inspired by the iconic ‘Cooly Rocks’ event in Coolangatta, Queensland. It is primarily aimed at classic car and motoring enthusiasts, but will also showcase Deloraine as a destination of choice for state-wide and interstate visitors.

In this pedestrian-only, family-friendly static display, show vehicles will be angle parked along both sides of the street. Kids can bounce away in the jumping castle while Mum and Dad enjoy the vehicles.

Treat yourself to delectable refreshments from Deloraine’s excellent hotels and cafés, to the background of live music played throughout the day by Ben and Josh Tome at the Rotunda in the cool, shady riverbank park.

DJ Jack will spin nostalgia from the 50s – 70s at the top of the main street along with Kitty Martini and the Tom Collins Trio.

Emu Bay Road will be closed to traffic between Deloraine Hotel and ANZ Bank roundabouts from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Through-traffic will be well signposted, via West Barrack and Parsonage Streets.

All business owners in the main street and surrounding areas are encouraged to open for the day to maximise the festive shop-front atmosphere for visitors.

Entry is by a note donation, of which a portion will this year be directed to the worthy Meander Valley SES, which is assisting in running this event.

Over a hundred vehicles have registered so far, but there is room for more.

Perhaps you have a treasured special interest vehicle in your own garage? Now is the time to buff it up and enter it for this event! Enquiries are welcome. Call Karl Mansfield on 0438 007 308 or Grant Evans on 0408 133 421. Mark your calendar!

Don’t miss this relaxing, enjoyable day out. Take a stroll down memory lane.

Those enviable classic cars and retro music are sure to stir up many a story to tell over a latté or an icy beverage!
