AS THE strains of the last post drifted over the town, a large crowd stood bare-headed in the warm autumn sunlight in respectful silence to remember those that served the nation in conflicts all over the world.

The message from serving defence and former service members was one of peace and hope that in the future, nations would learn to live in peace while still remembering who have sacrificed to preserve freedom.
