JUNE 2017

Deloraine’s second annual Street Car Show in February was admission-free and attracted around 12,000 visitors to the town. The Street Car Show was organised by a local committee who function as a sub-committee of Prospect’s Van Diemans Street Rod Club. This allows the sub-committee to act under the Street Rod’s banner of incorporation and not-for-profit status.

The funds raised through the well-supported donation tins around the town were given to the Deloraine Fire Brigade and the Meander Valley SES.

The SES used the welcomed donation to help purchase a new, more portable, lightweight hydraulic pump. It is capable of running all of the hydraulic tools used for cutting and spreading twisted metal to help remove accident victims from wrecked vehicles, especially in difficult terrain like the edge of a riverbank .

Pictured are Meander Valley SES volunteer Deputy Unit Managers Karin Ketelaar and Andrew Sherriff cutting the roof from a car using the new hydraulic pump.
