Dangerous dogs register

July 2017

MEANDER VALLEY Council will work with the local Government Association of Tasmania to develop a statewide register of dangerous dogs.

At the June council meeting, Cllr Bob Richardson said that while each Tasmanian council keeps a record of declared dangerous dogs there is no existing accessible statewide database.

“Animal control officers will communicate with each other if they know when and where a dangerous dog is moving, but they are not always aware,” Cllr Richardson said.

“A statewide register linked to the existing microchip database may help close this gap.”
