Mersey & Forth to boost Australia's energy?

ARENA and Hydro Tasmania have completed scoping the first two projects that will form part of the larger Battery of the Nation initiative.

Pumped hydro storage from Tasmania has the potential to make a far greater contribution to Australia’s energy market.

An assessment process is now underway to identify the final key zones & locations.

There are 11 potential sites in the ‘North West’, which includes the Mersey & Forth River catchments.

A final shortlist will be completed by the end of 2017.
