WHEN WEARINESS sets in, injuries or illness strike, or when pampering is in order, there’s nothing more soothing and restorative than a massage from a trained professional.  Phuong Cao’s soothing hands relieve pain and stiffness from aching muscles and joints.  Her clients are rapturous in their praise for her skill.

Phuong grew up in a small Vietnamese village near the mountains.  Here, she worked with her family on a rice farm, and in their agricultural chemicals business.  For many years, she massaged family, friends and other villagers when they needed pain relief and relaxation.

“In Vietnam my father had a minor stroke with numbness in his legs,” said Phuong.  “I helped him with relaxology massage.  My grandmother worked hard all her life, she had sore shoulders and a bad back.  I helped her a lot by giving her a massage almost every day.  When I was unable to come, she would send somebody on a motorbike to bring me to her house.”

Eventually, Phuong was able to formally study massage in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).  About 10 years ago she came to Meander Valley on holiday, and since then, always longed to come here to live.  Four years ago she realised her dream when she returned to Deloraine.  She loves our mountains and farming districts which remind her of home, but is not so fond of our cold winters!

She has worked on local farms, and in her spare time enjoys sewing her own clothes, and growing vegetables, (especially the Asian varieties that are becoming more popular here).

Phuong spent 2 years studying for her Certificate IV in Relaxation Massage at Evolve College in Launceston. “When people are sore or injured, I want to help them have less stress and pain.”

Phuong is available for Asian Relaxation Massage sessions most days by appointment.  She works from a room in Seppenfelts Emporium in Deloraine, and has also travelled to Launceston when requested.  Phuong can be reached on 0456 715 775.
