ONCE AGAIN, the Combined Churches of Deloraine and District will be presenting Carols by the River to help celebrate Christmas.

As in recent years, the event will be held at the rotunda, near the bridge in Deloraine, on Saturday 12 December with the music program starting at 7pm.

Because of restrictions, the usual sausage sizzle will not be available this year, but everyone is invited to bring along a family picnic which can be enjoyed seated on the grass around the site from 6 pm.

Or you can just arrive in time to enjoy the program. You will need to bring with you your own chairs and rug. No booking is required. Just turn up on the night. If the weather is not kind, the event will be cancelled. It will not be held indoors.

The program will be off to a rollicking start with the Meander Men.

They will be followed by other group and individual entertainers.

But, of course, the real highlight of the evening will be the community singing of all the popular and well known Christmas carols.

Tony Parsons will be the master of ceremonies and Josh Skeat will be in charge of the music. The program will finish at about 8.30 pm.

Everyone is invited to come along to this free, family friendly event, to enjoy a picnic with family and friends and sing along to their heart’s content with traditional carols such as ‘O Come, All Ye Faithful’, ’Away in a Manger’ and, of course, ‘Silent Night’.
