THERE IS a bright season ahead for the Meander Valley Suns who have resumed full training for both teams after a busy off season.

Training each week at either Westbury or Hagley, club president, Steven Saltmarsh noted changes to the men’s and women’s teams.

‘A couple of interstate imports have joined the men’s team. Also, we have picked up some North Launceston guys. It’s looking positive for us, there is a lot of optimism for both teams.

‘The women’s team has had a large turnover of players. Many of those haven’t played before. Some have come from Bracknell.

‘Everyone is just very keen to get the season started,’ he said.

As a bonding exercise, the coach took the teams on a surprise hike to Minnow Falls at the back of Mole Creek. Challenging them to work together to reach the destination, one team member hiked with their arm in a sling.

‘The women’s team are strong, they train as the men do. We are one club together,’ Steven concluded.

The first men’s match will be against UTAS FC on 10 April.

The women have their first match on 17 April.
