Apex pulls a big crowd at Red Hills

The Tasmanian Tractor Pullers Association met on 11-12 December at Red Hills in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

Apart from the Tractor Pull the crowd had the opportunity to check out the vintage and modified tractors on display too.

Tractor Pulling competitions are more complex than you might think. It involves tractors pulling a weighted sled along a 100m level graded track.

Tractors compete in specific horse power classes.

As the tractor and sled progress along the track a weighted box moves forward on the sled gradually increasing the load to make pulling more difficult.

As the load increases the tractor set up and the skill of the driver determines the distance of the pull.

In most cases the total distance pulled over several runs determines the winners in each horse power class.
