Bustling Chudleigh

The Chudleigh Hall Committee has had a busy month with two events drawing large, enthusiastic crowds.

In early January the Festival of Small Halls presented an evening of folk music at Chudleigh Hall (as well as Longford, Wilmot and Rowella).

Local singer songwriter Ross Clippingdale opened, and delighted the audience with great vocals and some fanstastic fingerpicking on guitar.

Soloist Emily Lubitz followed and captivated the audience with the unique etheral vulnerability of her voice.

Headline act, The Paul McKenna Band, hailed as the best folk band to have come out of Scotland in the last twenty years, deserve their reputation.

Their musicality was clearly on display when they played, without missing a beat, a pacy Irish reel whilst singing and swapping instruments from banjo to bouzouki, violin to whistle and guitars!

ARTS Deloraine and Meander Valley Council look forward to sponsoring further Small Halls events.

Last week, over 100 people attended their Community Breakfast held in classic Tassie summer weather on 26 January 2023.

The hot breakfast was popular with plates piled high.

Platters loaded with lamingtons and cream horns disappeared quickly with quite a few people tucking into them and making return visits to grab a few more for friends.

Later this month, on 18th February, Chudleigh will hold their annual show featuring the Chudleigh Royal Shears Shearing and Wool handling competition which returns after a 30 year hiatus.
